Ludhiana road collapse near railway station August 2025

Sewer Damage and Rodent Activity Cause Road Collapse in Ludhiana

Road Collapse During Rush Hour Near Railway Station

So here’s what went down near Ludhiana’s railway station on August 28th, 2025. Part of the Old G.T. The road basically caved in during rush hour, you know. Caused massive traffic jams and had everyone freaking out.

Sewer Line Failure and Rodents Behind Collapse

Municipal folks came by later that day saying it was a busted sewer line making things worse after rats chewed through stuff underneath. Senior Deputy Mayor Rakesh Prashar showed up promising quick repairs starting that night to avoid messing up daytime traffic.

Residents Demand Long-Term Infrastructure Fixes

The thing is this keeps happening over and over again in Ludhiana. The same spot had collapsed in 2012 and 2017 if you check the records. Even this summer there were similar issues back in July too according to reports.

People living there are pretty much done with this crap honestly. They’re saying nobody’s maintaining these old brick sewers properly anymore. Contractors keep drilling holes everywhere without fixing anything right apparently.

The road connects major areas like Jalandhar Bypass and market zones which makes it dangerous when it crumbles like this every few years. Rodents digging tunnels everywhere doesn’t help either obviously.

Authorities keep patching things up but residents want actual solutions instead of temporary fixes every time something breaks. There’s talk about needing better regulations and modern infrastructure upgrades but who knows when that’ll happen.

At the end of the day this whole mess shows what happens when cities ignore aging systems for too long anyway. City’s gotta get serious about this stuff before someone gets hurt real bad next time around you know what I’m saying.
