personal and professional life

The fine line between your personal and professional life, which often seems to blur out

If you are a working professional, then you must have felt this way many times, either when working from home or from the office. After work hours, whenever you see a call from your colleague or boss, you would always be like, “Why me!”.

Every time you see a Whatsapp or slack message from your office during a planned leave, you ask yourself, “Now what’s the deal!”, “Now what’s the deal!”. And then you start thinking about work, leaving the present moment to return to the office in your thoughts. Do you know why this occurs? Because there is such a thin line between one’s professional and personal life. And we have no idea when it blurs and we start mixing the two.

It also makes no difference whether this is done by you, your boss, or your coworkers. The fact that it becomes blurred and we can no longer keep one arm’s distance between the two is tense. What’s the worst part about all of this? You are never fully committed to one aspect of your life. You are constantly switching between working and being with family or friends. It’s never one thing at a time, and when one suffers as a result of the other, you start blaming yourself.

Then the next thing we hear: “Always try maintaining that fine balance between the two”.

But then, we are not robots either, right? We can’t go from one mode to another in an instant. We can’t be like NO WORK when we leave the office, and we can’t be like NOTHING PERSONAL when we leave our homes. At the end of the day, we are all humans. But we can try to keep a little distance from work when we are away from it and not think too much about home when we are at work (though a little bit about home never harms). Consider things only when absolutely necessary, or learn to say NO whenever and wherever necessary.

Don’t be stressed when you feel things aren’t working out. Try talking to people around you. If you feel your boss is being overly nosy, consider speaking with or writing to someone in senior management. If something isn’t right with you, speak up and solve the problem! There is no problem in the world that cannot be solved. All you need is a calm mind, a conscious effort to work things out, and a positive attitude.

Don’t let things, life, or people affect you. You must work for your family, and you need the family as well to work for. Both can and must live in harmony; that is how life works. Don’t aspire to perfection. If you can make even a minor difference in your daily routine and life, you are doing extremely well. Keep up the good work!

Just keep in mind that your well-being should always come first. When you notice that your mental, emotional, or physical well-being is suffering, take a break to rethink and get your thoughts back.

Till then, have a great day or evening or afternoon or whatever time it be. But most importantly, have a great life ahead!
